Luke AFB PCS guide: first-day steps and West Valley rent versus 2026 BAH
Luke Air Force Base, at 14185 West Falcon Street in ZIP 85309 (main line 623-856-6011), is home to the 56th Fighter Wing. The wing describes itself as the largest fighter wing in the Air Force, and it also oversees Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field and the Barry M. Goldwater Range (Military OneSource, Luke AFB, read Oct 15, 2026). Two warnings on the official installation page
- Pets and summer moves: airlines usually won't ship pets in or out from April to September because of the heat, so plan ground transport for a summer PCS.
- Housing costs: the page notes that home prices have risen sharply in recent years, which has pushed rents up too. Arrive with enough cash for deposits.

Sign-in sequence

- During duty hours, report in uniform to your unit's Commander's Support Staff. After hours, check in at the Fighter Country Inn, Building 660, and report to your unit the next duty day.
- Start base in-processing at the Military Personnel Section, first floor of Building 1150. Your CSS will schedule the mandatory Wing Orientation, and spouses are invited.
- Attend Medical Right Start at the clinic. It runs every Tuesday at 9 a.m.
- After initial in-processing you can take permissive TDY for house hunting, if you're eligible. The page stresses this: skip it and you may be charged regular leave.
Hand-carry: PCS orders; ID cards, marriage and birth certificates, passports and Social Security cards; medical and immunization records for family and pets; LES; proof of car insurance and registration (and proof of overseas coverage if you're coming back from overseas); school records; your household-goods inventory; vehicle bills of sale; and your sponsorship package.
Lodging: the Fighter Country Inn is open 24 hours. PCS families can stay in a Temporary Lodging Facility for up to 30 days, space permitting. Some units are pet friendly, so call 623-856-3941 to ask. If no pet unit is open, you'll need to kennel.
Visitors and base access
Any visitor 16 or older must be screened, vetted and issued a DBIDS pass. The sponsor meets the guest at the Lightning Gate Visitor's Reception Center, Monday–Friday 0800–1600. Outside duty hours, passes are issued only at the South Gate entry control point (Luke AFB Community Corner, read Oct 15, 2026). Military OneSource lists a Visitor Reception Center at the South Gate, Building 899, Mon–Fri 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (623-856-3669). The two official pages don't match, so call before you bring guests.
Housing contacts
The Housing Management and Referral Office is at 623-856-7643. Military OneSource lists two different street addresses for it, so confirm the location by phone. Family housing on base is run by Balfour Beatty (623-388-3515), with home types assigned by rank and family size (Military OneSource, Luke AFB housing, read Oct 15, 2026).
2026 Phoenix BAH and West Valley ZIP rents
Luke's ZIP and every West Valley ZIP below map to the PHOENIX, AZ (AZ013) housing area, so BAH is the same across them: $2,289 for an E-5 with dependents. Rent benchmarks are not the same. Phoenix-area voucher programs use HUD Small Area FMRs set by ZIP code.
